Overview
The Hecto Grain Tester is designed for the determination of bulk density in grains like barley, oats, rye, and wheat, following EU trade standards. It provides precise hectoliter weight measurements, essential for grain grading and quality assessment. The tester is available in 0.25-liter and 1.0-liter capacities, with a robust brass or SS 316 construction for durability. The measurement process involves weighing the bulk using a precision balance, with results adjusted using factors from official correction tables for liter and quarter-liter samples. A calibrated balance is required for accurate trade measurements and is available as an accessory.
How It Works
To determine the bulk density, insert the skimming knife and place the forerunner into the measuring cylinder. Fit the forward cylinder (1.25 liters) and pour in the grain sample. Quickly pull out the skimming knife, allowing the forerunner and grain to fall into the 1.0-liter measuring cylinder. Level the surface using the skimming knife, remove any excess grain, and then weigh the contents using a calibrated precision balance. The bulk density (kg/hl) is determined using the provided correction table.
This tester ensures accurate, repeatable results, making it an essential tool for grain trade and quality control.
